What will you do with the funds?
We will use the funds to pay for printing a limited first-edition paperback.
We will also be producing an audiobook this summer.
We are printing on 90gsm paper. The cover is matt laminated with UV-relief spot-varnishing, with cover flaps.
Do you have experience publishing a book?
Yes. Last year, we raised 44,000Kc on Hithit for the book
Animal Farm.
We printed the book, and distributed the book and posters to supporters at the end of September 2021.
Is the editor a native English speaker?
Yes. Gerhard is a Londoner, born and bred. After a career in the pharmaceutical industry, he moved to Prague in 2015. He has been teaching English in Prague for the last three years.
For whom is the book intended?
Through extensive testing with Czech students, we estimate that the book is ideal for students who are B1+ in English.
Students at B2 and above will certainly benefit from a book which has a broad vocabulary and some challenging passages.
Where can we buy the book?
The book has not been published. Supporters of our Hithit campaign will be the first to get the book.
The book will be available in all good bookshops and online from October 2022.
A Hero of Our Time was written by a Mikhail Lermontov, a Russian. Do you support Russia today?
A Hero of Our Time gives us an insight into one episode in 700 years of historical territorial expansion of Russia, that is, the Russian conquest of the Caucasus.
During the Russian-Circassian war between 1763-1864, the Russian Empire employed a strategy to annihilate civilian populations. This genocide is commemorated annually on 21 May by the Circassian diaspora.
To paraphrase Mark Twain, literature can be used to remind ourselves that history may not always repeat itself, but it often rhymes.
