The beginnings – "From Board Games to the Olympic Games... and back"

There once was a skilful enthusiast. And a drawing board. And a game that gathered dust for almost half a century. The time has come to redesign the classic game, bring it back to life in modern form and present it to the world, but first and foremost, to you.  You will be the first to judge if it is good enough to entertain you, your children and many others. We are believers!

The skilful enthusiast was Roman Cermak sr., who back in the 1970s designed for his two sons Roman and Richard unique board games mostly based on various sports.  Games made of cardboard, carpet or anything else that could be found in the house, not only filled the two boys’ childhood with unique fun and moments of excitement, but also opened the door to the world of sports.

Roman’s favourite was the Cycling Game. At the age of 17, he started training and later on competing on a bike himself. He then had a chance to experience many of the game situations in real cycling races. Ten years later, he stood at the start of a cycling race at the Olympics and subsequently he went on to become a cycling coach, manager and organizer of races and competitions.  Now he has come full circle; after a life spent in the world of cycling, Roman has returned to gaming with the aim of diverting children’s and teenagers’ attention from computers, introducing them to the world of sports in a fun game and perhaps even starting them on a sports path of their own, just like it happened in his case. 

After founding the RCGames company we decided that the first game we would try to release would perhaps surprisingly not be Cycling but Tennis as no similar game is available on the market. SuperAce Tennis is very simple and will be enjoyed by players of all ages. And that is what makes it so special. You can start playing and having fun in a matter of minutes. State-of-the-art materials, production methods and technologies have enabled the development of an ideal prototype which satisfies our highest demands. And most importantly, everybody who has tried playing the game enjoyed themselves immensely.

What is our goal?

Our aim is to generate funds that would allow us to move our “ideal final prototype” into mass production. To make “our game” also “your game”. For this purpose, we intend to use the best modern-day materials that have we tested.  We want to deliver the product in unique attractive packaging. We plan to work with the best Czech and European manufacturers who put quality first. We aim to develop a smartphone application that will keep track of the score and let even children who are not familiar with the tennis scoring system or who just don’t feel like counting points, play.  We will personally oversee the production of the game from the first beginnings to the very end. Our goal is to provide you with a delightfully entertaining and professionally executed game that will bring hours of fun to you, your children, friends … and simply everyone who plays!

Why we have decided to use Hithit and ask for your support

We have a finished, tested game prototype, we have completed the material selection and sourced a supplier. We would now like to launch the game on the market in as little time as possible. We believe we will manage to do so in the course of autumn; in any case it should be well before the Christmas season, since the game will surely make a wonderful and unique Christmas gift. For us this means ordering and covering upfront the production costs of all game parts and packaging for the first series. Particularly, the material designed for our tennis court needs to be custom produced and in order to be able to start production, a set minimum number of pieces must be ordered. The minimum order quantity is not exactly low …

We would also like to finalize the development of the complementary mobile game application which will facilitate score-keeping, allow you to better focus on your performance and make your game experience more enjoyable. 

And what if with your help we manage to raise more money? We would use the funds to increase production capacity and we would also direct our attention to using a special printing technology for our material to custom produce games according to individual customers’ specifications.  We would enhance the mobile app so that it not only keeps track of the score but also creates an authentic tennis match atmosphere with the help of umpire calls and ball bounce sound effects. And we are aiming higher still. We want to create a community of players, where they can communicate, share results, follow match statistics and even organize real tennis tournaments to meet for sport and fun.

About the game 

SuperAce Tennis is an entertaining board game with simple rules for children and adults. It’s a perfect simulation of real tennis on your table. A popping wink for a tennis ball, pawns for players and a court with a unique surface specially developed for this game.  You can play singles or doubles, two or three-set matches, organize an exciting tournament for your family and friends. The game includes a mobile app for score-keeping, so no math is involved. Use sharp shots to attack or patiently wait for your opponent’s mistakes. Play, practise, improve and win. Just like in real tennis: Game, set, match – SuperAce Tennis!

How to play

The game rules are not at all complicated. The good news for those familiar with the general rules of tennis is that they don’t differ much from those of the game. Points are also counted in exactly the same way and depending on your preference, you can play one-, two- or three-set matches. The special surface court is divided into sectors that allow you to have a singles or a doubles match. In addition to the court and net, the game uses 2 – 4 pawns and a wink, all of which are included in the game set.  

The main objective of the game is to score points by successfully shooting the “ball”. In our case the ball is represented by a small, slightly convex disc, “wink”, which you might know from the game classic Fleas.  The principle is easy: using the pawn, which represents a player, you press down on the wink, attempting to aim in an area cross court where you can cause your opponent the most harm. With some practice, you will soon have little difficulty flipping the “ball” over the net, however, sending it in the exact spot you want requires quite some skill. Apart from the serve, this means shooting the ball so that it lands in the box that is diagonal from the one where your opponent is standing. After playing the ball, the player stays in the box he played from and waits for his opponent’s return. A “good shot” requires proper technique and training – just like you would for example practice your backhand to improve in real tennis. It’s up to you from which side and with what force you will press down on your wink – “ball”. After some time, you will master your ideal moves and find out that you can play in many ways: low above the net, passing shots down the line or lobs. Application

The game includes a mobile app for iOS and Android devices, which can be easily downloaded using the QR code printed in the game rules which come as a part of the set. The main aim of the app is to make score-keeping easier, and the game more enjoyable for children and adults, who are often unfamiliar with the way points are counted in tennis, or simply just don’t want to be bothered with keeping track of the score on paper. Using the app is simple and intuitive. It allows you to choose either a singles or a doubles match, the number of sets you wish to play, it shows you player stats. Since the rules and point-counting are the same as in real tennis, the app can be used as a score-keeper even when playing the sport itself. 

Details

Details? We have plenty! During the development and testing stages we paid close attention to even the finest details. Consider for instance the “winks”, which are used in our game for tennis balls.  No two winks are the same. We have tried out dozens from various parts of the world until we came across the British classic Tiddly Winks. The game comes from the 19th century and following endless testing of numerous other samples, Tiddly Winks’ small time-tested discs proved to be the best also for the purposes of SuperAce Tennis.  If you are interested, you can find out more about mischievous winks on our website.

On top of that … we decided that from the very beginning you will get a chance to play at three Grand Slam Tournaments: London, Paris and New York. On top of that … we want to develop a simple smart mobile app that will help you with score-keeping, provide a breakdown of stats and allow you to compare your results with long distance opponents. On top of that …the app can be used in real tennis, after all, the rules of our game and tennis are the same. 

And on top of that …we are already working on other sports-based games that would adopt the rules and principles of various sports and bring them in a fun form to your table top at home. Let’s hope SuperAce Tennis is just the beginning of our fun together. Let’s play and compete! Our intention is to organize tournaments in our games, where you will be able to meet, play, compete in sports and enjoy yourselves with others!  

Who are we?

We are amateur sports enthusiasts with a background in many professions, in which we have always strived for perfection. We love sports and are committed to meaningful work. At the same time, we like to play and have a good time. We believe in the product we have thoroughly tested and we know that it works. We are convinced that our SuperAce Tennis will not only provide super entertainment but also arouse kids’ interest in sports. We have walked the same path.  

Who are we? You already know Roman and the story of his childhood, many years ago his father was the inspiration for our work. Roman’s wife Zorka is in charge of text writing, while Martina, who worked with Roman and Zorka in a cycling event organizing company, is responsible for marketing. Stepan is a production and trade expert without whose experience we would be lost. Together we are RCGames – a mixed doubles foursome in our SuperAce Tennis. And we can’t wait to have a game with you! 

Why do we do this?

Essentially, our aim is to entertain you and your children. With the help of this fun tabletop game, we would also like to encourage children to participate in real sports just like it happened to us. From game to sport and back. We would like less virtual and more real-life entertainment for both children and adults. Our tennis is no make-believe full of dragons or creatures with supernatural powers. What makes our games special is the fact that they copy real sports and you alone are their hero; you, your skill and your hard work. No illusion, just reality – that is our motto. Generating sufficient funds for the release of this game would be fantastic … Game, set, match - SuperAce Tennis!
