Colorful People release a debut CD and make a music video

How did it begin?

In 2008 when I first met Juraj – the guitarist, pianist, singer, songwriter and co-author of the Colorful People album, I found that we perceive music in exactly the same way. Communication through music, thanks to which we got to know each other better, was the most natural to us.

I remember sitting at the piano, Juraj improvised, and I often cried out of sudden joy. At that time, I would not have dreamed, that we will have a joint journey across the world for several years (Morocco, India, Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Canada and the USA), where we will learn new musical styles that will strongly influence our work.

 

What is our goal?

Our main plan is to record a CD, which is composed of songs that we made during our travels around the world. This album will be varied in sound, influenced by the musical styles that we have learned on the road and will be sung in English ‘cause it is focused on listeners from all over the world. 

The arrangement of the songs is created by Juraj, accompanied by the great producer Jureš Líška - leader of the Slovak band Fallgrapp.

The music is full of real experiences and spontaneous emotions emerging from the inside in some very energetically interesting places such as the Caribbean Sea during the night trip to Colombia, where the song Like a star originated.

Our goal is also to make a music video for one of the songs (Time keeps passing by), which was inspired by my friend's real life story.

Details

We perceive music in a different way, our view of music is colorful and it reflects the name of our band Colorful People. We travel across a musical genres as we understand that each style expresses certain feelings, moods and emotions that change frequently. And since (like humans) we are not monotonous, the music we create reflects it. 

    

Who we are?

We are two founding members of the group - Lenka Novotná from České Budějovice and Juraj Holoda from Trenčín, who met each other during their studies at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague in 2008. Lenka Novotná, I studied singing, dancing and acting in the field of musical. Juraj decided to study jazz guitar.

After completing our studies in 2012, we received a scholarship at the Escola de Choro Raphael Rabello Institute of Music, where we studied percussion and guitar playing in traditional Brazilian music called "choro", the forerunner of samba and bossa nova. The community of musicians, in which we moved every day, accepted us as their own. We were going to concerts led by Brazilian musicians and we were playing with some of them in the town Brasilia.

We cooperated with a number of domestic and foreign artists. Recently we had the privilege to play with South Czech Philharmonic our own compositions and the compositions of the well-known Brazilian author Antonio Carlos Jobim as a part of the “Brazilian Evening” concert.

Earlier this year we were guest vocalists of the well-known czech band Support Lesbiens on the launch party of their new album. Among foreign artists we have collaborated with Moya Angela (USA), Rene Trossman (USA), Femi Temowo (UK), Ismael Fonte (BRA), Di Stéffano (BRA), Santiago Ferreira de Souza Brito (BRA), Josias Pedrosa ( BRA), Shahab Tolouie (Iran) and others.

Why do we make this?

We hear from our fans often that we should record our songs and release a CD. We started working on our first album this year intensively and recording songs in the studio of the Piano Club in Trenčín, Slovakia, where we are currently based.

However, when we began to make the video clip for one of the song from our album, we found that the overall budget to realize this project was significantly higher than we expected. So, according to our friends and acquaintances, we bet on the crowdfunding campaign on hithit.com with the fact, that we have the largest fan base right here in our home.

However, we have never officially published any song or video, so we decided we can make it with your support!

For every singer or musician is a great advantage of working with a professional producer during recording in the studio. It brings a new dimension to the artist's subjective view of the song and can be very helpful in finding a new sound for the band.

You will find 8 songs on our album called "2020". The amount we collect includes recording in the studio, including post-production of the entire CD (mixing and mastering), pressing and CD cover, electronic download codes, postage and packing. Furthermore, the cost of filming and postproduction video (studio rental, directing, filming, editing ...).

The launch party of the album and the official publication of the music video will take place next year 2020. We will inform you about all dates in advance.
