How it all started

Pulse of Silence is a solo post-rock project led by guitarist Marek Cikatricis from Bratislava, Slovakia. This project was created very spontaneously exactly a year ago in May 2022.

One ordinary day I was "accidentally" immersed in listening to the songs of my favorite musician, and at that moment I clearly realised that this is exactly the music in which I find what I have been looking for - for so long. Music that speaks to me from the depths of my soul and that I can create freely, by myself, according to my own rules, or better said, without any rules - just pure creativity.

What is my goal?

The goal of the project is to transform my new album Across The Bridge Of Illusion into physical form in the form of CD/USB. Although we are living in a digital age, I still feel that releasing music also in physical form has its place, and it is still a special moment when you can literally touch the music and be in contact with it also in this way.

Details

Exactly a year ago, I've strongly felt an urge to create a post-rock project, in which I would be able to make music according to my ideas, music full of feelings, emotions, inner messages and all of that, that music means to me. And so Pulse of Silence was born. 

After the debut EP - Embrace of the Unknown (May 2022), which was received very positively, I recorded a full-length album - Across The Bridge Of Illusion - which contains 10 songs and I would like to manifest it into physical form as well.

Musically, the album is based on minimalism and emphasizes layered guitar melodies full of emotions, atmosphere and spaces. The album is a mix of songs that were created years ago, when I was experiecing my creative beginnings, with current, much more mature songs, which after years of playing and experience embody completely different qualities.

I feel that this album faithfully reflects my inner path that I have been following for the last decade. From inner awakening, through the backlash of light and repeated immersion into depths of matter to the desired sunny mountain peaks.... always on the way, always searching through the illusion and yet, paradoxically, always here and now.

Who am I? ...a little bit more about me

Music as well as spirituality have been part of my life since very childhood. I have always been (un)consciously looking for a way to integrate these two spheres in my life and to be able to fully express myself through them (if I'll find it one day, I'll let you know ;)

For more than 10 years, I was working on my musical capabilities through melodic metal. However, I felt that there was still something missing. Music has always been something so sacred to me, that it is very difficult to express it in words. It is a live experience and one either has that experience or not - the experience of that moment when you're playing or listening and suddenly you're not there as a person, there's only music, a big space and the present moment. At that moment you know that nothing else is more important.

This is exactly the experience that I always wanted to share with the world. When Pulse of Silence was created, for the first time I felt that this is the music through which I can share this space with the world, I felt that this is the only thing that I consider real and true. Making and sharing music that is not only about entertainment or the subjective expression of personal feelings, but music that can carry you in meditative melodies and spaces into the present moment of your own being.

  

Why am I doing this?

Because the soul longs to share its gifts. :) 

The crowdfunding project also gives me the opportunity to literally bring this album home to every attentive ear, to fulfill my dream of releasing my own CD, and also the opportunity to share my music with wider range of people.

In case the project is successful, the collected money will be used to cover the cost of the production of CDs and USBs of Across The Bridge Of Illusion album.
