Further laying of a Stolperstein in Prague on 17 April 2023, a day before Yom Hašoa.

Nov 10, 2022

In 2023, approximately 100 new stolpersteine will be laid. In April, a stone will be laid in memory of Mr. Albert Ehrlich, born in 1870 and murdered in 1942 in Treblinka.

He had five siblings, but none survived. The client who ordered the Stolpersteine lived in his original apartment after the expulsion of the Germans. She is not a relative of Mr. Ehrlich, but by ordering the Stolperstein she wanted to remember a victim who otherwise no one would remember today.

We will be happy if you join us.

New Stolpersteine for Rudolf Klein and Marta Kleinová

Nov 3, 2022

Rudolf Klein was born on 1 June 1896, in the village of Oselce in the South of Plzen. Rudolf was the sixth child of the merchant, Simon Klein and Theresie Kleinova domiciled in Oselce. Together, they had two more children. After Theresie’s death, Simon married Rosi (Ruzena) Schwellb. They had three children together.

In 1919, Rudolf moved to Prague and worked as a clerk. Following the marriage to Marta Aschermannova, the young couple moved together to an apartment on Jaggelonska street. Their first son, Petr in 1925, followed by their daughter Hana in 1928.

1n 1932 the Kleins purchased a larger home (villa) in the exclusive neighbourhood of Smichov on Na Provaznici street. By this time Rudolf was the CEO of the pharmaceutical company Julius Kussi in Prague. In 1939, the Kleins were forced to sell their villa at Smichov and moved several times to various smaller apartments, concluding at an apartment on Dlouha street 9, where they would remain until their deportation to Terezin in May 1942.

In March 1942, Rudolf attempted to emigrate with his family, but it was already too late. On September 16, 1944, Rudolf and Marta were transported to Auschwitz where they were murdered.

Marta Kleinova was born on 17 December 1903, in the village of Stechovice. Marta was one of six children born to Rudolf Aschermann and Hermina Bondy. After moving to Prague, she worked as a secretary. Marta loved theatre and was a good friend of Olga Scheinpflugova. According to witnesses, Marta was on one of the last “death marches” from Auschwitz eastwards. The date of her death is unknown.
