HOST - dance film - postproduction

GUEST is a short dance film, based on the relationship of a guest and a host. Two dancers express themselves through the language of movement and dance. The film also contains spoken dialogue. Please help bring our film to a successful conclusion!

HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?

In 2020, our choreographer, Regina, came back to Prague, after years living in London, to start working on “GUEST
among the Flowers”, a feature length piece of dance theatre. However due to the COVID-19 situation, it was not possible to premiere the work, as planned, in the fall of 2020. Nevertheless, the idea prevailed; and, with the aim of presenting it to as wide an audience as possible, we decided to go adapt it to a cinematic format. So we commenced work on making a film - with all that such a project entails


WHAT IS OUR OBJECTIVE?

Different backgrounds, habits, prejudices: a guest and a host.
Despite dance and movement being a universal means of expression, we decided to push the “dance film” genre a little further - and include spoken dialogue 
in more than one language.

DETAILS

The initial idea to create the GUEST dance film stemmed from an original project of our choreographer and director Regina Hofmanová, created in the fall of 2020. The two dancers for this project were foreigners (from Italy and Portugal) and, together with the choreographer. they developed the theme of a guest in a foreign country, a visit, and various ideas around

    An URBEX outing to one of our locations with set designer RenĂĄta WeidlichovĂĄ

    Join a short URBEX outing (a tour of urban sites in the city) to one of our locations. You might me surprised to find where it actually is. So far the only thing we can tell you is that it is in Prague. Our set designer and set decorator Renata will guide you and explain on the spot what we needed to change and adaptand what we had to look out for. Then you will go off for beer, wine, coffee (one beverage is included in the price)
and you can talk to Renata about her work in film and theatre and her profession in general. The date will be specified together with you once the campaign is over. Furthermore, you’ll have a chance to watch our film online for a period of one week. The link will be sent to you by email.

    A Workshop/Gettogether with director and choreographer Regina HofmanovĂĄ - creating a dance film

    Would you like to know what a dance film actually is and how it is developed? How long did we rehearse for and did the story change?
    What did we need and what did we have to give up? What mistakes did we make and would we do things differently the second time around?

    Project author Regina HofmanovĂĄ will give you a step by step account of the whole project and its’genesis. In addition you’ll see  never before seen footage of rehearsals and the creative process ( you might have a good laugh ). And of course this is your chance to ask questions.

    A dance/acrobatics class with dancer Ivona SzantovĂĄ

    Gather a group of up to 8 people and our film protagonist Ivona will give you a tailor made dance/acrobatics class.

    Ivona is a contemporary dancer and acrobat in Losers Cirque Company. So do make use of this unique opportunity!

    An Argentine tango class for a group of up to 10 people

    Do you know that our choreographer Regina HofmanovĂĄ has been an Argentine tango dancer for many many years? During her numerous stays in Buenos Aires, she studied with renowned tango dancers. At the same time she created several tango based/inspired choreographies for operas and other projects.


    Gather a group of up to 10 people and give tango a try, and see (feel) for yourself what tango technique is all about. And because we know how hard it is to find a tango partner, the class is intended for individuals, primarily women (we will be dancing on heels) but men are welcome.


    We will try out some basic tango steps and figures, we’ll learn how to walk with elegance, we’ll explain some basics of Argentine tango technique and finally we’ll watch some Argentine tango with commentary.
