HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN?
In 2020, our choreographer, Regina, came back to Prague, after years living in London, to start working on âGUESTâŠamong the Flowersâ, a feature length piece of dance theatre. However due to the COVID-19 situation, it was not possible to premiere the work, as planned, in the fall of 2020. Nevertheless, the idea prevailed; and, with the aim of presenting it to as wide an audience as possible, we decided to go adapt it to a cinematic format. So we commenced work on making a film - with all that such a project entailsâŠ

WHAT IS OUR OBJECTIVE?
Different backgrounds, habits, prejudices: a guest and a host.
Despite dance and movement being a universal means of expression, we decided to push the âdance filmâ genre a little further - and include spoken dialogue âŠin more than one language.

DETAILS
The initial idea to create the GUEST dance film stemmed from an original project of our choreographer and director Regina HofmanovĂĄ, created in the fall of 2020. The two dancers for this project were foreigners (from Italy and Portugal) and, together with the choreographer. they developed the theme of a guest in a foreign country, a visit, and various ideas around hospitality. This basic thread - and some of the situations from this project - formed the germ of this film; and were augmented in several other aspects, such as a variety of locations and a bit of absurd humour. Due to the universal and timeless nature of its theme we hope our film will make a mark at film festivals.
The shoot was quite a challenge for the dancers, as, apart from dance and movement, they had to engage their acting skills - and, on top of that, on camera. In addition to the two dancers we had a film crew headed by choreographer and director Regina HofmanovĂĄ, experienced DOP Radek Loukota, theatre and film set and costume designer Renata WeidlichovĂĄ and producer Barbora ÄervenkovĂĄ. The tight budget demanded that everyone fulfilled multiple roles to make the project happen, but, despite that, we managed to shoot to schedule. However right now we simply have no money for post production.
Who we are

Why are we doing it ?
Why ? Well we feel that the theme and format will appeal to a wide audience. Reginas' last film Steadfast was screened literally all over the world so we decided to take it a step further because we believe we need to break down conservative ideas of what a "dance" film truly is.

WHY DO WE NEED MORE FUNDING?
The small sum of money that we had just about covered the shoot. We did receive a small grant from the Capital City of Prague, but we have not managed to secure any additional funding. We are creatives, after all, and seeking out grants and approaching investors isnât really our expertise.
The money we had was predominantly invested into locations and equipment. But now we need money for post production. Editing, color corrections, sound and sound design. And subtitles of course. Donât forget that our dancers speak a foreign language and our film will go out into the world.
If we were to raise double the sum weâre asking for, we would be able to submit our film to all high profile festivals on our radar. Please help us achieve our goal!
