All or nothing. Project finished on Jun 10, 2017 at 10:18.
In 1950s, despite unfavourable political climate, volunteers from Malešice built a church. In these tough communism days this was a very brave move. Later the church was no longer used but still remained a symbol to Malešice residents. Through combination of David Vávra’s ideas, our congregation needs and residents’ enthusiasm the idea of bringing Milíčova Chapel back to life materialised.
There is no church or a concert venue in Malešice.
We want to reconstruct this church to be opened for advent 2017, thus bringing back to Malešice both spiritual life and a venue for community events for all.
We have already received 5.5 mio CZK in donations for reconstruction funding. However, we still need funds for the roof.
We are Herrnhut Congregation to the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren in Prague. We proud ourselves to be successors of Unitas Fratrum, whose members had to leave Czech lands in the aftermath of Battle of White Mountain. These founded Herrnhut in Saxony, which became a base for pastoral journeys of Moravian Brethen to all continents.
Our congregation has no permanent office or place of worship. For worship we use chapel in Domov Sue Ryder senior centre. Although grateful to our hosts, this arrangement restricts us in both pastoral activities and our congregation’s development. Despite these limitations we hold regular meetings of children, youth and elderly as well as Sunday School along regular Sunday service.
Through renovation of Milíčova Kaple we will salvage a historic building, bring a meeting place for the local community and secure premises to our congregation.
Milíčova Chapel just encourages meetings and interaction. Current chapel will be converted into multifunctional space where the spiritual will meet with the secular. Apart from worship this space will be used by locals and guests for
All activities will be run by volunteers from the congregation, friends and all others who will support the idea of open spiritual community.
This March we began the reconstruction. To keep our target for opening on Advent 2017, we hope to collect through HitHit funds for roof reconstruction.
