How did it start?
Three lovers of Australia and good cinema decided to bring the best contemporary australian movies from Down Under to Prague and Bratislava. Films that will introduce the fascinating continent, its culture and society to european viewers. The pilot edition of Aussie Film Fest was held in 2014 in the Lucerna Cinema in Prague. The festival team is growing and we are happy to have the possibility to promote the films in Slovakia.
What is our goal?
Get our event on the cultural map of Prague and Bratislava. Bring the best of what has been filmed in Australia in recent years. Entertain people, who dream of visiting Australia, as well as those, who already have been "Down there". Give all people who like Australia chance to meet and share their experiences and knowledge about Aussie society and culture.
Details
The Australian film festival will screen current Australian films that will present Australia as a modern, multicultural continent with a unique tradition of aboriginal culture, not as a backwards country limited to Crocodile Dundee, Mad Max, beaches and sharks. The program contains also films produced by aboriginal directors, whose numbers continue rising. These films will help Czech and Slovak viewers learn more who are original inhabitants of Australia, how rich their culture is, how far back into history their tradition reaches and what are its specifics unknown to other cultures. On the other hand, the showcase will also contain films whose wide spectrum of stories talk about the lives of current Australians.
... And then some
Before we meet in the cinema at the Aussie Film Fest 2015 you can feel Australia from the photo exhibition in Lucerna café or at the cinema Mladosť in Bratislava. During all screenings in Prague there will be children's corner where professionals will take care of your children – thanks to collaboration with NGO EDA – Raná péče.
