FREE BALKAN QUINTET - first CD!

We are finishing our first album of original arrangements of folk tunes, and we need your help to see it through. The money we collect will be used to pay for the studio, mixing, mastering, cover design and printing of the CD.

It's been almost a year now that our band was formed, and we are releasing our debut album. It was recorded in October 2016 in the Audio Factory recording studio, which is situated near Česká Lípa up in the north of the Czech Republic. If all goes well, we hope to release and christen the CD in the spring of 2017. The album will consist of variously arranged folk songs, mostly from Bulgaria, but also from Romania, Czech Republic, or Armenia. Apart from odd meters and tradition, there will also be dense reharmonizations, jazz, free improvisation and deranged shrieking.

Besides the usual line-up:

Kieren Alexander - accordion
Tomáš Mika - guitar banjo
Milan Jakeš - violin
Ondřej Komárek - double bass
Jaroslav Noga - drums and objects

...we have invited a special guest to sing a Czech folk tune with us - vocalist Lucie Páchová.
