The cross-genre trio NTS (Michal Nejtek – keyboards, Petr Tichý – double bass, electronics, Štěpán Smetáček – drums, electronics) has a unique chance to make a new recording produced by Simon Ratcliffe from Basement Jaxx in a London studio.
Not limited by the boundaries of genre or style, the band has recorded several CDs and LPs in the Czech Republic (CD Libido Trip, Guerilla Records 2009, LP Permanente Frustration, Good Day Records 2011 etc.). NTS and Basement Jaxx first met by accident in London at a concert that took place in May last year. After the concert, Simon Ratcliffe (one half of the famous duo) offered NTS to record in the Atlantic Jaxx studio. The result was a 7” vinyl single containing two tracks, with the release party taking place in the Vortex Club in London on 30 November 2015. The song “7UP” from the single was played twice on the BBC – in Gilles Peterson’s and Nick Luscombe’s radio shows.
As the single has great sound and was highly appreciated by the audience, both parties are interested in continuing their cooperation – the new music that the band is working on right now could be recorded and produced by Simon Ratcliffe again and the resulting LP could be released in the first half of this year. In spite of the generous offer to use the studio and production service, NTS will have to pay further costs, including those for a sound engineer, equipment, and travelling to London with their instruments – but they currently don’t have enough money for those expenses. The experience with the single shows that combining new ideas with great sound can bring an outstanding recording that probably wouldn’t originate of the band stayed at home. Your support will allow them to use this unique chance.
